Here’s what to expect from this episode:

We need to have a little talk about podcast downloads. Though they alone are not an indicator of your show's success, your podcast downloads do matter. Because, of course, we want to see them grow over time.

If you tuned into last week's episode with Sara Marye, we went through every step of her podcast growth over the last 100 episodes of her show, and the time it took to hit 100k downloads. (And if you haven't listened yet, do that now! I'll wait. It's a REALLY good one with lots of behind-the-scenes info.)

While you can't (and shouldn't) compare your downloads to anyone's but your own, this got me thinking that I wanted to do an episode today about podcast downloads - what we should consider and some benchmarks to create goals for ourselves. So without further ado, let's dive in!

TOPICS COVERED:

  • Understanding your podcast downloads and setting expectations

  • How niche and ROI are related

  • Average (and surprising) podcast download stats from Buzzsprout

  • Sample goals you could set for yourself (and questions to ask yourself to help you do so)
