Are you a busy podcaster?

Let's be honest, we’re all very busy podcasters…at least at one point or another.

There are definitely times of the year where we are so busy, it feels like you just couldn't possibly add another thing to your to do list.

While there are 1,000,001 ways that you could repurpose your podcast every single week, it's just not always possible to do it, right? Especially if you are doing everything on your own! So today, I want to look at a few ways that you can use your time in the most effective way possible.

What to Focus On

I've thought of four top things that you should focus on to get the most bang for your buck, if time is just not on your side these days.

Plan Ahead of Time

The first thing that I think you should prioritize with your podcast is planning your episodes ahead of time so that they can align with other things that are going on in your business.

This is the number one thing that you should be focusing on with your podcast. When people don't plan ahead, that's when things start to slip. They begin scrambling week to week to get something out for their show…even if it isn’t great quality!

You don't have to be planned a year in advance to make this concept work. I would aim for one month at a time to at least sit down with a calendar and look at what else is going on in your business.

Is there a special holiday coming up?

Are you going to be launching something soon?

Is there a topic that you want to cover maybe over the course of a few weeks?

You don't have to record and produce all of your episodes at this time when you sit down to plan. Just getting the name of the episode, and the date that it's going to go live, down on paper will make such a world of difference.

Create the Right Content

The second thing to prioritize in order to get the most out of your podcast is to create great content that your audience wants and needs.

As the saying goes, content is king (or queen!)…and they ain't lyin’! Having super compelling titles or gorgeous social media graphics may attract somebody to click on your episode. But if the content isn't great, and it isn't what they need, it's really kind of all for nothing.

Creating the right content for your people breaks down into two things - content that they want. These are topics that they are asking you to cover, or that they have frequently asked questions about - and then content that you know that they will need.

Think about what your listeners need. If you haven't already, you need to get feedback from your listeners. You also need to look at your data to see which episodes have done really well in the past.

Once you know what your audience wants, and what they need, put your time and energy into delivering that in the most effective way possible!
